Who Do You Trust; God or man?
What Do You Trust; What God Says or What man says that God Says?
It is better to trust and take refuge in the Lord than to put confidence in man. Psalm 118:8
Our Lord Jesus was very clear when He said that “It has been written, Man shall not live and be sustained by bread alone, but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of God.” (Matthews 4:4)
He was quoting Deuteronomy 8:3.
It is very disturbing to hear so many professing saints giving Father’s Word with a lesser place of importance than Father does. It is even more disturbing, in my view, that some would think that The Almighty God would not and have not put His rightly divided Word, Wisdom and Understanding in a man without the help of another man. Father is not dependent on evil man, like that, for anything. How arrogant of anyone to think so.
If God is able to give a man His Word to write down in the first place without the help of other men, then what would make someone think that He wouldn’t or couldn’t give a man the understanding of what is written without the help of other men? Men, sinner and saint alike, are more often than not, deceived by their sinful nature into thinking more highly of themselves than they ought to, just like the Devil that the nature came from.
No one is suggesting that this is Father’s normal way of dealing with man, but, no man is going to lock Father in the “using /needing other men only” box either. He loves to work through men. He designed us for that very purpose. He designed us for Himself. He set the terms of our relationship without any input from us. Don’t forget, Father IS Who He IS: Totally self sustaining and totally self sufficient.
What ground is the man standing on who convinces himself that Father doesn’t mean anything that He actually says in His written word, but, that everything needs to be interpreted by some finite, evil natured, man educated human being who thinks he knows Father’s voice. Again, how arrogant.
Through the Psalmist, Father said that He considers what He says more important than His Name (Psalm 138.2). Through Peter, Father said that the prophetic Word was firmer and surer than the things that they saw with their eyes; touched with their hands; or heard with their ears (2 Peter 1:16-19).
When Lord Jesus was tempted by the Devil, He quoted the Scriptures. When men tried to trick Lord Jesus, He quoted the Scriptures. Who came up with the idea that all Scripture needs to be interpreted considering culture, definitions, time, community and the like? What religious group is there that is not its own community? Are you going to change what you believe because everyone in one of these groups or communities agrees that you are wrong? I think not.
To a saint, whose spirit, mind, soul and body is sold out to Lord Jesus, nothing on Earth is more important than His written Word. It is his only spiritual food which always comes from Father’s Holy Spirit, whether from within the saint or through an outside source.
If God is always the same, then the principals and spirit of His word is always the same because they come from Him. Therefore, His love and desire for man is always the same, regardless of culture, time, definitions or communities. He is God and He does not change. Therefore again, the problem is always with man and his lack of knowledge and understanding.
Do we have anyone with us today whom Father trusts more than our brother Paul, who refused to use lofty words and impressive wisdom to teach God’s Word. This highly educated and cultured brother decided to forget everything except Lord Jesus, Who was crucified for us. With meekness and humility, he preached plain and simple messages. Unlike many today, he chose not to use clever and persuasive speeches, but instead, relied only on the power of the Holy Spirit, so that the saints would not trust in human wisdom but in the power of God. Amen.
Why does Father say that “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined
what God has prepared for those who love him?” (Do You really love Him?)
The Scriptures have the answer. “No one can know a person’s thoughts except that person’s own spirit, and no one can know God’s thoughts except God’s own Spirit.” Therefore, only those who have received Father’s Holy Spirit (not man or the world’s spirit), can know the wonderful things Father has freely given us. Hallelujah!
To conclude my brothers and sisters, when we preach and teach the Word of God, let us not use words that come from human wisdom. Instead, let us speak words that are given to us by Father’s Holy Spirit, Who alone knows the right words to use to explain spiritual truths.
There is no doubt that people who are not saved cannot receive these truths from God’s Spirit. It all sounds foolish to them and they can’t understand it. Carnal worldly saints who are still guided by their human spirit are almost in as bad a shape for they are grieving and quenching Father’s Spirit and refusing to mature spiritually. Only those who are spiritual can understand what the Spirit means.
As the Scriptures say, those who are spiritual investigate and evaluate everything, but, they themselves are not evaluated by anyone. For, “Who has known the Lord’s mind well enough to teach Him?” But we understand these things, for we have the mind of Christ.
Stick to the Word saints. (see 1 Corinthians 2)
