Who’s Caring For God’s Sheep

While the foundation of the church of our Lord Jesus Christ was still being established and the Word of God concerning the Church was still being written, the Holy Spirit of our Lord Jesus issued warnings of things that would be done by, as well as, to the children of God.

One of the most important warnings is to those who would be teachers of the Word of God. The Holy Spirit through our brother James warns that NOT MANY of us should become teachers knowing that teachers will be judged by a higher standard and with greater severity than others (James 1).

The Satanic pride that resides in our evil, wicked, mean and sinful human nature is constantly trying to put itself in a position to receive praise and glory that should only go to our faithful God and Father.

It takes children of God, being led by the Holy Spirit of God to be able to tell the difference between teachers who care for and feed God’s children; and the ones who are hired and pretend to care.

Just because a person says that the Holy Spirit led them doesn’t mean that the Holy Spirit actually did. The Holy Spirit gets credit for many things that simply come from prideful human minds. The Holy Spirit will not lead contrary to Scripture or the love and patience of Christ Jesus our Lord.

Teachers who care are matured, called guardians; sent by the Holy Spirit of God to give the blood bought children of God, the whole plan, purpose and counsel of God; without hesitation and without reservation.

Teachers who care know that they have the same Head and Holy Spirit as those that they teach; that they are being molded into Christ’s Image just like those that they teach; and that they can be taught by those that they teach also. The double edged sword of the Word of God cuts both ways.

Teachers, who care, preach the Word! They keep their sense of urgency whether the opportunity seems to be favorable or unfavorable; convenient or inconvenient; welcomed or unwelcomed.
They show saints in what ways their lives are contrary to Scripture.
They convince them, rebuking and correcting, warning, urging and encouraging them with much patience and teaching (2Timothy4).

Again, NOT MANY of us should become teachers knowing that teachers will be judged by a higher standard and with greater severity than others (James 1).

A companion warning also comes from 2 Timothy 4 in the form of the reason why ministers of the Word of God should be urgently faithful to the call. The warning concerned time when saints would not want to hear sound teaching. We’re living in a day when this warning has come into full bloom.

People truly are not tolerating sound and wholesome instruction. Their ears are itching for something pleasing and gratifying. They go from one place to the other looking for what satisfies their own likings and reinforces the errors they hold. They turn aside from hearing the truth and wonder off into myths and man-made fictions (2 Timothy 4).

God’s vision and purpose for His Son’s Body is lost to some and ignored by others. The leadership of the Holy Spirit is second to men who do and teach whatever is right in their own eyes. People are more loyal to men and organizations than to our Lord Jesus Christ.

What happened to walking worthy of the calling with which we were called, with all lowliness and gentleness, with patience; bearing with one another in love;  endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit, in the bond of peace?

Have we forgotten that there is one body and one Spirit; one hope of our calling;  one Lord; one faith; one baptism;  one God and Father of us all, Who is above us all; through us all; and in us all?

-WHO is equipping of the saints for the true work of the ministry;
-for the building up of the body of Christ;
-till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of  God;
-to a completely mature man;
-to  measure up to the stature of the fullness of Christ;
-speaking the truth in love;
-in all things, growing up into our Lord Jesus Christ, our Head;
-each of us doing our share;
-resulting in the maturing of the body of Christ;
-for the building up of itself in love;

-that we should no longer be immature children;
-tossed to and fro and following all kinds of teachings of cunning, craftiness and deceitful men? (Ephesians 4)

In the eyes of many Christians, these things are already happening in their group, as if their group is the whole Body of Christ, and they don’t see a problem.
If there really is no problem, then I need for someone to explain to me why there are divisions among us. For where there is envy, strife, and divisions among us, are we not carnal and behaving like mere men of this world (1 Corinthians 3:3)?

Why are Christians still being governed by mere human nature  and not by the Holy Spirit of God; saying things like “Joe Feelgood” is my pastor; or I’m of the “We’reRightist” non / group (1 Corinthians 3:4)?

In all honesty, how many of us who name the Name of Christ can say that our thoughts are primarily about the things of heaven and not the things of earth (Colossians 3:2)?

How many of us can say that we are truly dead to the life of this world, and primarily occupied with our real life that is hidden with Christ in God (Colossians 3:3)?

How many of us can say that our evil, wicked, mean and sinful human nature, with its many earthly lust, has been put to death (Colossians 3:5)?

How many people who know us, will testify that they observe a new life and renewed knowledge in us that has made us more and more like our Lord Jesus as time passes by (Colossians 3:9-10)?

If anyone tells you that these things are impossible while we’re in the body of flesh, note that person and have nothing to do with them; they are not from God. It is our “deceitful above all things” human nature that convinces us that it can be done. The Foundation Church is our proof that in this body of flesh, we can yield ourselves wholly to the Holy Spirit of God.

            Political columnist Cal Thomas recently wrote an article entitled: “U.S. suffering from ‘God gap’ that only clergy, not politicians, can fix”. I don’t know what Cal’s faith is, but, the last three paragraphs of this article are worth noting. (the bold is added)

{The God gap will not be shrunk by politicians, though to rally “the base” they often talk as if it can. The goal of cultural transformation has historically been the work of clergy, whose “hellfire” messages scared people from their comfortable and what used to be called “sinful” lives. But this was before having a baby without a husband became acceptable.

Too many of today’s clergy seem preoccupied with building personal empires and monstrous buildings. They go on costly TV instead of investing in the less visible “work of the church,” which is people, not brick and mortar. Many pastors today dislike sermons about sin and repentance because it makes people uncomfortable. And so we get instead the discomfort of social decay and an ever-widening God gap.

Materialism and pleasure contribute to social rot. Social rot precedes national decline. These have become our twin false gods; contemporary “golden calves,” as unable to produce satisfaction as the idols of biblical times. Most politicians won’t urge restraint or personal sacrifice and too many ministers allow the secular world to set their agenda. And so the God gap widens and the wisdom and understanding of the older generation goes unheard and unheeded.}

No fear of God; no fear of eternal punishment; un-appreciation for the Sacrifice of Christ; no love (agape’) for our God, Father and Lord Jesus; unbelief of the Word of God; ignorance of the total depravity and deceitfulness of human nature; and unwilling hearts make up the reasons for the gross disobedience of professing believers.

The eleven apostles, who walked with our Lord in Person; being taught by Him daily; yet they had a believing problem. Later He appeared to the eleven as they sat at the table; and He rebuked their unbelief and hardness of heart (Mark 16:14). I dare say that the unbelief and hardness of heart of professing believers today are in dire need of the Lord’s rebuke.

It’s one thing to be in this condition (ignorantly hopefully); it’s quite another thing to remain in this condition after being made aware of it. That would make us “willingly ignorant”.

Our Omnipotent God and Father is able to do in and through us, all that He has asked us to do, including “being ONE as He and Christ  are ONE”, IF believers had willing hearts. He does not demand anything that He can’t provide.
